Which kind of owner instruction each operation on an owner's stock accepts, where the operation asks for it, and the rules every instruction must meet. Instructions are recorded in Inventory ‣ Rx Tracking ‣ Owner Instructions (in the 3PL ‣ Operations section); see Record an owner's instruction.

Operations that need no instruction: putting a lot on hold, counting the owner's stock, registering an opening balance of its units, taking back a customer return, verifying returned units for resale, and receiving the owner's purchases from its suppliers. Your own stock never needs one. No operation accepts the Quarantine kind.
For a title transfer to you, the owner's reference in the Vendor Reference of your confirmed title purchase order counts as the selling owner's instruction.
The rules every instruction meets
- The owner's policy. With Owner Instructions Required on the owner's profile (the default), each operation above needs its instruction. With Optional, it may go without one, but an instruction you do give is still checked. An owner without an active profile counts as Required. Publish to Buyer of a mode-A document always needs one. See Set the owner's policies.
- Same owner and company. The instruction is recorded for the owner of the units, in the company of the operation.
- An accepted kind. One of the kinds in the table for that operation.
- Used once. When the operation is done (or the owner order confirmed), the instruction is marked used for it: Used On, For Model and For Record are filled in, and it leaves the operations' Owner Instruction lists. Checking the same operation again accepts it. A backorder of a transfer uses the instruction of the transfer it came from.
- Frozen. Nobody can change or delete an instruction once it is recorded.
