How to move a database to a newer version of the Rx Tracking modules, what to read before you do, and what to check after. The update itself is one procedure: Update the modules to a new version.
Versions and what an upgrade means
A module version such as 18.0.1.0.0 has two parts. The first two numbers, 18.0, are the Odoo series the module runs on. The other
three are the module's own version. Apps shows the installed version on each module's card (and in Module Info, in the card's ⋮
menu).
- A new module version in the 18.0 series replaces the module folders on the server and updates the modules in the database. Every record is kept. This guide covers it.
- Another Odoo series (moving the database from Odoo 18.0 to a later Odoo version) is Odoo's own database upgrade, followed by the Rx Tracking modules made for that series. This guide doesn't cover it. See Odoo's Upgrade documentation.

Before you update
- Read the changelog of each module you have installed, from your installed version up to the new one.
- Read the release notes and known issues of the new version.
- Make a backup of the database with its file store, and try the update on a copy of the database first. See the Before you start list of Update the modules to a new version.
Update
- Update the modules to a new version: replace the module folders, then Upgrade the core module in Apps. One update of the core module updates every installed Rx Tracking module.
- From the command line, for a server administrator.
- What an update keeps and what it sets back: records and company settings are kept; screens, menus, access rules and the administrator's Rx Tracking Manager right are set back.
After the update
- Check that Apps shows the new version. If it still shows the old one, see After an update, Apps still shows the old version.
- If your procedure keeps the administrator out of DSCSA work, remove the administrator's Rx Tracking Manager right again: every update gives it back (known issue PF-W01-03). See Give staff the right Rx Tracking access.
- Run the smoke test once: Prove the whole chain once after go-live.
